The MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models stole the show, thanks to their ultra-powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, and stunning mini-LED screens. The previous Apple event was on 8th March 2022, where Apple announced a whole host of new products, ranging from the iPhone SE 3, updated iPad Air (5th Gen), new Mac Studio and Studio Display, to a new green colour for the iPhone 13.Īt this event, Apple announced a couple of products with dramatic redesigns.

(Image credit: Apple) Apple Event past: what's happened recently?Īpple's developer conference, WWDC, nicknamed 'Dub-Dub' by many, spilled the beans on its new M2 silicon, showed us an all-new MacBook Air, and presented a boatload of software features coming in iOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS 13 (Ventura). It's thought to happen before 2023, but it's very much just a rumour right now. There's a lot of rumour about Apple's VR/AR headset being such a special bit of kit that it'll actually receive its very own launch event, no other distractions, to outlay the hardware and software specific to the headset. Apple Event 2022: what else is coming up?Īpple usually holds an event closer to Christmas as well as its iPhone event, and this is where we expect to see Apple AirPods Pro 2, probably along with a new iPad Pro, using the same M2 chip as the new MacBook Air. Delaying until 2023 could be a good idea on Apple's part, to ensure everything is right, but that feels a long way off right now. So, will Apple ever release a Virtual Reality (slash Augmented Reality) headset? The thinking is yes, it's just a case of when.

This one's a bit of a long shot, really, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill churning. It's nothing but speculation right now though. And with iPadOS 16 already revealed in full, a shiny new top-end iPad with the best hardware available would indeed be the ideal way to showcase that. This one's probably a long shot, but the Pro ought to be the next iteration of iPad to receive an update. It's been a long time since the Mini has received a meaningful update, although with the Mac Studio now released maybe now's the time for Apple to quietly retire the Mini instead.
#Apple keynote recap update
We'd anticipate a very simple update without many changes beyond the processor options. The M2 chip was revealed at WWDC 2022, but there was no Mac Mini to take advantage of it. However, with the software change so significant in terms of sports tracking, it could be a more simple update focused on battery life improvements instead. Will it add a temperature sensor? Will it add a camera? There's a whole host of rumours about what to expect.
With watchOS 9 already showcased it's inevitable that a new Apple Watch is coming. We're expecting very similar hardware to the iPhone 13 range, except with enhanced cameras and, of course, more features thanks to iOS 16. This trio is a given, as Apple reveals the new iPhone series lick clockwork year on year. There's also the ongoing rumour of Apple's AR/VR headset, which is increasingly expected to be revealed in its very own event before the year is out. However, as there's likely to be an October/November Apple Event happening too, we suspect the new iPad will be held back until the later date.
